How To Create Map Package [.mpk] in ArcGIS What is Map Package? Map packages (.mpk) make it easy to share complete map documents with others. A map package contains a map document (.mxd) and the data referenced by the layers it contains, packaged into one convenient, portable file - Reference : www.desktop.arcgis.com. To Create Map Package in ArcGIS, please follow the steps; After finalizing the data and you are about to submit the data, please go to File-> Share as -> Map Package... Under Map Package - save package to file, provide the path where map package will be saved. Go to Item description and provide the details in Summary (Summary of the project), Tags (add tags to identify data), Description (Description of the project). Then, click Analyse button - see the status at the bottom of the analyse window must be completed. Then, click on Share button to create map package in the provided path.
